Robert Bundic, (c. 1773), better known as "Captain Brutal Bundic", was a notorious English pirate who operated around the western coast of modern day Canada. A shrewd and calculating leader, he would often only need his fearsome image to elicit the response he desired from those he pirated, however he would often murder them anyway. After his death, his first mate Pippy published the Captain's memoirs. These documents are often credited as the inspiration for most modern day pirate-themed works of fiction.

Although little is known about his early life, he was probably born in Bristol, England. He is said to have been a sailor on privateer ships eventually sailing to the new world with Captain George Vancouver on his famous 1791 - 1795 expedition.
